Another Good Children of the Moon Book.
By Readergirl
I have loved Lucy Monroe's Children of the Moon series and this one didn't disappoint. Very good.

Shona, a non-Foal (shapeshifting wolf) is rejected by her mate Caelis after he is convinced by the laird and alpha of the clan that she isn't his actual true mate. She and her family leave the clan and she is forced to marry a baron. The story begins 6 years later when the Baron has died and she is on the run from her step son who would like to turn her into his mistress. She's on her way to Balmoral Island to seek refuge with distant relatives when she crosses Sinclair land and then is taken to the castle. There she meets up with Caelis.

We see some appearances from other couples in the series before which was nice. Talorc and Abigail remain a favorite of mine so it was great to see them.

I really liked this story and the characters. It was nice to see that mistakes were made...responsibility took...and characters move on from that. It wasn't minimized, but it also wasn't dwelt on to the point of being irritating. It was well-written. I liked the story and enjoyed the depth of the characters. There was no 'instant forgiveness' for wrongs. Instead it was a natural progression. The story seemed very romantic and the world Monroe has created with her highland shape-shifters is interesting. I highly recommend the book and look forward to seeing others in this series continue to come out.

Really Disappointed
By AJ
I absolutely love the series. Every time I see a new book is coming out, I pre-order it. I was so excited to read this book. I was sorely disappointed. Warrior's Moon lacked everything a good book needs--great characters, a plot, and good writing.

To be quite frank, the characters were annoying. They jumped from one side of the Mississippi to the other on almost everything, including their feelings for one another. And I don't mean the kind of feelings that characters are working through. I mean it looked like this, "I hate you. No wait. I kind of like you. Nope, I lied. You're really annoying. Stop that. Shoo. Go away. Why did you leave me? What is wrong with you?...." and so on. It was tedious to read.

As for the plot...there was none. Nothing happened. At all. There was talk of something happening, but it was over faster than you could say, "Quidditch." Hopefully, Monroe remembers to include something exciting in the next book in the series.

And now to get to the writing. Honestly, it didn't feel like a Lucy Monroe novel. I re-read the series before reading this book to get myself back in the groove of things. Not even 20 pages in and I was confused. Who wrote this book? Why was there constantly a mention of "gentian" blue eyes? The redundancy was a give away. Also, the vocabulary was unfitting of the story. Every other book included vocabulary that anyone reading the books could understand. Why? Because writing in its most simplest form is the best it can be. The inclusion of difficult vocabulary had me placing down the book and completely avoiding reading. I read all the time. My vocabulary has expanded tremendously as a result of that habit and my being an English major. But some of those words were as foreign to me as could be.

Simply put, this book was a complete and utter disappointment. I want to read a book by Lucy Monroe, not some poorly skilled shadow writer that picked up the series from her.

huge fan of this series but book one remains king
By Bookswagger
Shona is human and her mate a wolf, who turned away from her because she did not have a wolf. Now she is a widow running from her stepson back to her highland relatives. Before she can make it back to her family she is faced with Caelis, her mate who let her go for being human at their Lairds demand. Now things have changed, he expects to claim her and his children as if he never threw their bond away.

I am a huge fan of this series but book one remains king, although this one was pretty good. Shona is now a widow, her wicked Baron dead and who should she run into on Sinclair land but her mate Caelis. Right! I loved it, we all love it, that is why we read romance. Caelis is arrogant and just expects her to still admit her love for him. After all she is a peace-loving feisty lass just like he remembers. Not. She is a mother who has had her heart-broken and she acts like it. Shona does bend but she gives him what for as well. Her children provided some laughs, I admit I enjoyed them because sometimes I groan when I see kids in books, but this one was done well.

So in short Warrior's Moon can be read as standalone, book one still my fav, the saga continues for the Chrechte (the shifters) but not between Shona and Caelis, they get their HEA, Caelis bounces back from his dark deeds in the previous books.
