About the Author
Misty E. Vermaat has more than 25 years of experience in the field of computer and information technology. In addition to consulting in the field, she was an Associate Professor at Purdue University Calumet, teaching or developing Microsoft Office, computer concepts, database management, systems analysis and design, and programming courses. Since 1990, Ms. Vermaat has led the development of the Shelly Cashman Series and has written or co-authored numerous Series textbooks, including many editions of DISCOVERING COMPUTERS, DISCOVERING COMPUTERS FUNDAMENTALS, and Microsoft Word books.

What a joke

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!!! Just buy the coursemate/cengage study guide. It's much cheaper than the book and it's all you need. The fact they don't include that stuff in the price of a $150-$180 book is insane. What a money grab.
Buy what you need to get an A for less than 10% of this book and don't get robbed like I did.

Complete Garbage

I have never read a textbook worse than this one. I am currently enrolled in a basic computing course titled "Intro to Business Computing". Its a pre-req for many other courses, and granted its a "basic" course the text book they picked (above) is the worst I have even had to force myself to sit through. It is basic but it goes beyond basic, Its insulting to anyone, that is even if you aren't computer literate...
I don't EVER write reviews, this book is so bad in my opinion, I will go out of my way to 1-star this and hope the editor/publisher goes out of business. misty e. vermaat should be ashamed of putting such nonsense out into the mainstream. I don't know how on earth this book was ever selected to be my courses textbook....
